Dynamic were selected to help 6,000 members of The Pack (volunteers) get ready for the kick‑off of Rugby World Cup 2015 and the nationwide celebration of rugby.
In partnership with England Rugby, we delivered a blended learning experience for the 6,000 Rugby World Cup volunteers called The Pack.
Prior to attending two face‑to‑face training sessions delivered by England Rugby, volunteers had to complete two unique elearning modules that complemented the training, both crafted in‑house by Dynamic.
Volunteers accessed their intuitive and beautifully designed elearning from a custom‑made multi‑device LMS called Train The Pack. Also included in Train The Pack was a very handy online Troubleshooter, which the volunteers could use to ensure that their device was set up to run the elearning.
Feedback from volunteers and England Rugby was very positive. This was backed up with incredibly high completion rates of over 80% in the first two months. In part, this has been down to the ability to access the LMS and elearning from various devices. For example, our analytics showed that over 25% of people completed the elearning using a tablet device.
Gamification was used in the elearning to offer further motivation to volunteers and help them absorb information quickly.
We made the volunteers’ journey through the elearning more fun by allowing them to collect badges. Content was hidden from volunteers until they ‘unlocked’ badges. The more badges they collected, the more content would become available for them to experience.
In each section of the elearning, three stars were up for grabs. The number of stars achieved would depend on how well they performed. The aim of collecting the stars was to incentivise high performance.
If volunteers didn’t perform well, rather than be restricted to one attempt, they were given the opportunity to revisit a section and make the effort to find the correct answers and collect all three stars.
The introduction of the exclusive PACK TV to the elearning ensured that the content was media‑rich and engaging. Developed completely in‑house, the conversational and friendly PACK TV sports presenter added another dimension to the elearning and helped volunteers to retain and absorb new information. PACK TV guided volunteers through the elearning, provided them with helpful recaps at the end of sections, gave them regular updates so that they could easily track their progress and explained what was coming next. All of this added up to a unique experience and created a sense of anticipation and excitement.
