Digital learning placements 2026: inspiring the next generation

BY LEAH, KEIRA, LIBBY

10 JUNE 26

Every year, countless organisations offer digital learning placements — but what matters most is the experience students walk away with. As our current digital media placement cohort reaches the midpoint of their time with us, it feels like the right moment to spotlight the momentum they’ve built and the value they’ve already added.

This year’s group includes three students: two junior creative developers and one junior creative media designer. Each of them has brought their own strengths, ideas, and curiosity, and together they’ve contributed to projects that have shaped real elearning solutions across the business.

Here’s a glimpse into the work they’ve been driving so far.

Leah Pope

Junior Creative Developer

“Dynamic has helped me both professionally and personally, everyone is so welcoming and gives you incredible support from day one.”

Keira Sharples

Junior Creative Media Designer

“I’ve learnt so much in terms of developing my own skills, and about the creative workplace itself.”

Leah Pope

“Hello! My name is Leah, I’m from York and moved to Leeds to study Creative Media Technology at Leeds Beckett University. I am currently on placement at Dynamic as a Junior Creative Developer.

When I initially started the course, I was interested in doing a placement year to develop my creative skills and work in a professional environment and Dynamic stood out to me as a fantastic place to do that. I have an interest in both design and development work, this role allows me to design and develop modules so it’s a perfect mix of both my interests.”

How has your time at Dynamic been?

“My time at Dynamic has helped me both professionally and personally, everyone is so welcoming and gives you incredible support from day one. You’re given time and resources to develop the skills you’re interested in as well as getting high quality training on the tools that are used, no one is ever too busy to help you so I’m never afraid to speak up when I’m unsure about something.  You’re given the opportunity to work on a range of different client projects, and I’ve had the chance to work directly with clients which has helped my communication skills.

“Leah has been a revelation. She consistently demonstrates a helpful and positive attitude and reliably goes above and beyond in responding to work-related requests. Her strong attention to detail, combined with creative and innovative thinking, enables her to approach tasks effectively. She has made a significant contribution to several key projects.

Projects Director

What have you enjoyed the most?

“I’ve loved being able to work on such a range of different projects from storyline and evolve builds to creating illustrations and motion graphics, having free reign on builds has allowed me to push myself creatively and create assets that can be used inside my modules. Being able to see projects develop from the scripting stage to finally going live is incredibly satisfying.”

What advice would you give to someone who's considering a placement?

“If you’re considering a placement, I’d 100% say go for it. You’ll get so much experience and professional advice that will improve not only your work but your way of working. Don’t be afraid to try different things even if you’ve never tried them before, you’ll never get thrown in the deep end and left alone to figure everything out yourself and don’t be afraid to ask to try different things not strictly tied to your title, if you’re a creative developer with an interest on going on film shoots or doing motion graphics then Dynamic will give you the time and resources to develop those skills.”

Keira Sharples

“Originally from Manchester, I am a Film, Photography and Media student currently studying at the University of Leeds. In my second year of study, I was eager to get some industry experience, and I applied for a placement at Dynamic which looked like a good environment for me to develop the skills I had learnt at uni while learning new ones.

How has your time at Dynamic been?

“Dynamic has been incredibly welcoming, supportive and encouraging throughout my entire placement. From the very first day, I’ve felt like an equal member of the team. The variety of work has pushed me to develop my skills, and the company socials and events helped me settle in quickly and get to know people beyond my immediate team. The experience I’ve gained here practically and in terms of teamwork and confidence will be invaluable during my third year at uni.

“Keira impressed me from day one. The very first project she worked with me on received fantastic feedback in relation to her creative designs. That initial impression has just gone from strength to strength with high quality work now coupled with a confidence to suggest and innovate. I can tell that she really cares about her work and embraces the challenges new work offers. She fits into the Dynamic team perfectly.

Julia Gilbert
Project Manager

What have you enjoyed the most?

“The work here is very varied but my favourite projects to be a part of are film shoots. It is really rewarding to see something go from concept and storyboards, to how this translates to footage, and being able to put this all together within the edit. A highlight for me would be the week-long shoot we did for the Salvation Army in London. This was a great opportunity which I was so excited to be able to contribute to and learn from technically in terms of developing film skills, along with observing the preparation and logistics of a long and complex shoot.

What advice would you give to someone who's considering a placement?

“I would recommend that anyone interested in doing a placement year takes every opportunity available to them. This could mean choosing optional modules that help you build a wide range of skills or getting involved in relevant extracurricular activities. Even if a subject isn’t something you plan to specialise in, exploring different areas helps you become a more well‑rounded member of the team. All of these experiences show versatility and highlight different ways you’re able to contribute to projects.”

Libby Payne

“Hi, I’m Libby, I’m from Northumberland and study Creative Media Technology at Leeds Beckett. Before starting my course, I knew I wanted to do a placement year to increase my employability as, coming from an arts background, I knew that entering the creative industry was becoming increasingly competitive and I wanted to give myself the best chances.

How has your time at Dynamic been?

“Since joining Dynamic as a Junior Creative Media Designer I’ve learnt so much in terms of developing my own skills, and about the creative workplace itself. I’ve found that even as a placement, I’m treated as an employee and co-worker first, not a student, which is brilliant because I get the experience of a working professional while having plenty of support – such as regular meetings to check-in on progress and ensure I’m getting the most of the year before going back to university.”

David Pryde
Project Manager

What have you enjoyed the most about your placement?

“I’ve really enjoyed the range of projects I’ve been on, it varies week by week and it’s exciting, especially since there’s been some big names such as the NHS, Warner, Wembley – each project is kind of like a cool behind-the-scenes look at the different industries. Through these I’ve learnt so much about motion graphics, static design, filming, audio, and I feel that my design skills overall have significantly improved. I also enjoy and appreciate that the work environment at the office is very welcoming and accommodating – everyone’s friendly and willing to help.

What advice would you give to someone who's considering a placement?

“If you can, allow plenty of time to research, consider and apply for your placement, including building a portfolio that you look forward to sharing and shows work you’re passionate about. Outline for yourself early on why exactly it is you want to apply as this will not only make good talking points during interviews but motivate you during the entire application process. Placement is a commitment and, from my experience at Dynamic, definitely worth it!”
